Why May 13, 2007 will be one of the busiest days of the whole year!
Mother’s Day can be a difficult holiday for a lot of us. On the one hand, we want to give a gift that shows the love, respect, and appreciation we have for our mothers. On the other hand, your mother is usually one of the most challenging people in your life to shop for. Most mothers make a practice of giving to kids and it can be very hard for a child to reverse roles; moms have mostly convinced us they really don’t need or want anything.
Have you ever asked your mom what she wants only to get a vague, noncommittal or non-communicative answer? Mothers don't like to ask for stuff from their children. In fact, most American moms don't think in those terms at all.
That’s why we think flowers for Mother’s Day are a great idea.
They're classic, for one thing. Flowers are a traditional gift and for good reason. They’re beautiful, elegant, tasteful, and feminine.
But there are other reasons, too. Flowers don’t contribute to clutter. Many mothers are not looking for more knickknacks or stuff to put in their home. If anything, they’re thinning out possessions. Flowers are a great “temporary” possession. They’re stunningly beautiful and, after a decent interval, they fade and go away. Mom doesn’t have some new monstrosity to dust.
Flowers can be easy to order and send, but only if you do your homework. Here are some pointers:
- Order early. We can’t stress this enough.
- Use a quality florist. This may be one you know or one you find this year.
- Even though online florists try to make the purchase super easy, spend some time thinking about what you want to get. This is still a gift, no matter how streamlined the process gets, and with gifts, it’s the thought that counts.
- Write a great note or cards. The flowers can fade but the note may last forever. If you’re at a loss for what to write, visit this website for ideas Letters2Mom.com
The best way to be sure that your mom will receive her flowers on time is to make sure you order them. Order as early as you reasonably can. This will make sure you get the very best selection. Plus, the later you wait, the more frazzled the florists will get. Right now, you can probably actually talk a bit on the phone or enjoy the luxury of indecision for a bit. Wait until the last minute and that luxury evaporates.
